Therefore, it would be highly beneficial for diabetes patients and primary care physicians to have improved diagnostic capabilities. A practical method of diagnosing neuropathy in its early stages is necessary to reduce the statistics of amputations resulting from infections incurred during the evolution of neuropathy in diabetes patients.
At DDI, we have proposed a solution to this problem, to help these patients detect these conditions early, and to ensure that they can adequately prepare and treat their disease. Diabetes is growing at epidemic rates, according to the World Health Organization (WHO), "The scale of the problem that diabetes poses to the world is still widely under recognized. Recent estimates predict that if current trends continue, the numbers of persons with diabetes will more than double from 140 million to 300 million in the next 25 years."
DDI is hoping that we will be able to help this growing population detect their illness early, and avoid many of the harsh consequences of allowing this disease to remain undetected as it currently does.
